John Douglas "Doug" Pace of Dryhill Road, Hyden, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center, Hazard, KY. at the age of 64. Doug was born September 21, 1953 in Hyden, KY., the son of the late, Ray & Emma Keen Pace. Doug was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Doug had retired from Ky. Dept. of Juvenile Justice as Supervisor & was a former employee for Shamrock Coal Co. He was also owner & manager , along with his wife , Carolyn of the family business established by his parents; Ray & Emma Keen Pace, Pace Jewelry & Clothing , from 1985-1993. He was affiliated with the Anna C. Brush United Presbyterian Church & Thousandsticks United Methodist Church. Doug was an avid hunter, fishermen, enjoyed camping, traveling in his recreational vehicle, motorcycle riding, meeting friends at McDonalds, however, his greatest his love was being involved in the life of his grandson, Tyler (who gave him his nickname "DADAH").
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ray & Emma Keen Pace. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife who he married on December 26, 1973, Carolyn Maggard Pace of Hyden, KY., one beloved daughter, Tracy Pace Lewis & husband Rodney of Hyden, KY., one treasured grandson, Jacob Tyler Smith & one special brother, Eugene Hensley of Manchester, KY.
Funeral:Saturday, September 1, 2018 @ 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Interment:Keen-Woods Cemetery, Hyden, KY.
