Mr. Camie Sizemore, 88 passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center, Hazard, KY. He was born, May 21, 1930 in Roark, KY., the son of the late, Burley Sizemore & Rose Napier Sizemore. Camie had been a resident of Leslie Co. since 2014 coming from Ypsilant, Michigan & London, KY. Camie was retired from General Motors. Camie was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War & had a very distinguished military record. He was awarded 2 purple hearts, 3 bronze stars & the combat medic badge for his bravery and valor in battle. Camie enjoyed Bluegrass music & attending bluegrass festivals, especially the Osborne Brothers Festival in Hyden, vegetable gardening, working & being outdoors, digging ginseng, hunting and he was an avid fisherman. He caught one of the largest northern Pike recorded at the Rasin River in Michigan.
Camie was preceded in death by his parents, 2nd wife, Maultie Roark Sizemore, brother, Virgil Sizemore, sister, Virginia Collett, half-sister, Gail Asher & sister-in-law, Jean Sizemore. He is survived by beloved sons, Russell Sizemore (Nancy) of Ypsilant, MI. & Gary Sizemore (Anna) of Sealy, TX., beloved daughters, Millie Evans of Saline, MI., Shirley Clayborne (Tommy) of Ann Arbor, MI., Bonnie Godbey of Ypsilant, MI. & Connie Erickson (Todd) of Indianapolis, IN., mother of his children; Katherine Bailey of Michigan, step sons, Manford Roark (Mary) of Essie, KY. & James Paul Roark (Tasha) of Lexington, KY., step daughters, Ruth Ann Collett (Bige) of Big Creek, KY., brothers, Wiley Sizemore of Belleville, MI. & Grant Sizemore (Wanda) of Ypsilant, MI., sister, Millie Young (Richard) of Manchester, KY., half-sister, Janet Slusher of Roark, KY., 12 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. Also a host of other relatives & friends survive.
