Hazel Chappell Collett

     The obituary of Mrs. Hazel Chappell Collett, Roark, Ky., born November 1, 1934 departed this life on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Continue Care Baptist Health, Corbin, Ky.,  She was 82 years old.  Hazel was born at Hyden, Ky., the daughter of the late Allen Chappell & Oma Nantz Chappell.  Hazel was a merchant having owned and operated Collett's Grocery for over 53 years with her husband Vernon Collett, Sr., & son, Vernon Collett, Jr.  She was a member of the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church, Roark, Ky., & was a life-long resident of Leslie Co.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, flowers, recreation on her houseboat, watching HGTV, her dog, Jack, & most importantly spending time and being involved in the lives her son, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Hazel Chappell Collett was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Vernon Collett, Sr., brothers; Harvey, Stanley, Logan Chappell ; sister; Mary Jane & niece; Nancy Sergent. Mrs. Hazel Chappell Collett leaves the following relatives surivivng; her loving and devoted son; Vernon Collett, Jr., one brother; Lowell Chappell & wife, Flonnie Mae of Stinnett, Ky., one sister; Mona Baker of Hyden, Ky., two treasured grandchildren; Sonya Howard & husband, Gene of Roark, Ky., Monica Keller & husband, Greg of Winchester, Ky., four treasured great-grandchildren; Kennedy Howard, Abbey Howard, Nicholas Howard, Karlee Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

PLACE OF INTERMENT: Private Family Cemetery, Roark, Ky
