Cordelia Short, 100, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her daughter's home in Knoxville, TN. She was born in Saylor, KY on July 28, 1916 a daughter of the late Sam and Betty Saylor Caldwell. Cordelia believed in the Holiness faith and she loved working with her flowers, pictures, Jewelry and watching cooking shows and had been a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Short, son, Eugene Short; step-children, Charlie Short, Jr., Henry Short, Carson Short, John D. Short and Sally Wilson; brothers, Richard, Robert, Zack and David Saylor and sisters, Mary Helton, Ida Caldwell and Eva Dean Maggard.
Survivors include her children, Bessie Caldwell, Nettie Caldwell, Nelson (Helen) Short and Christine Daniels, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John D. (Mary) Caldwell and Garth Ray (Chaney) Caldwell; sisters, Lena Mae Short, Berniece Caldwell and Betty Jean (Clayton) Masters; sisters-in-law, Doris Caldwell and Ruth Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Short and Dr. Justin Pate. Music will be by Arnold and Geneva Griffey and Krysta Warwick. Burial will be in the Honey Branch Cemetery at Middlefork, KY with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will gather with friends on Friday from 6 until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Short Family.
