Mrs. Janie Clark Vernon of Smilax, Kentucky was born on January 1st, 1929 in Glasgow, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Clark and Lucy Estep Clark.  She passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 87.  Janie had been a lifelong resident of Leslie County.  She was a loving homemaker and devoted member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ. Janie loved gardening, quilting, knitting and crocheting, she especially enjoyed canning and cooking.

 Janie was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Boone Logan Vernon, daughter Loretta Vernon Roberts, bothers Troy, Richard, Jay, Filmore and Hardin Clark and her sister Ida Clark Pennington.

 Janie Vernon is survived by her bother Lewis Clark of Wooten, Kentucky, her daughter Anne Vernon Hartman (Jay) of Cincinnati, Ohio, her sons Johnnie Vernon of Cincinnati, Ohio, Boone Vernon of Smilax, Kentucky, and William Vernon (Jettie) of London, Kentucky  and son in law Billy Gene Roberts of Smilax Kentucky.  She left behind 10 grandchildren Margaret Vernon Rossi, Lisa Vernon Rose, Janet Vernon Goins, Chad Hartman, Cassandra Hartman Miller, Jeremy Hartman, Monica Vernon Isham, Angela Vernon, Ashley Vernon Lacey, Amanda Vernon Adams, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.


FUNERAL: 1:00pm - Monday - January 2, 2017 @ the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ - Smilax, KY.

MINISTER: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis

VISITATION: 12:00 Noon until time of the funeral at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ - Smilax, KY.

BURIAL: Vernon Family Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY.
