He married Claudetta McIntyre Bentley on July 31, 1970 in Connersville, Indiana.

He loved building and racing off-road vehicles, particularly dune buggies. He was a Past-President of the Eastern Indiana 4-Wheelers Club. He loved fishing and being outdoors. He also loved his daily trips to the family pond to feed his fish. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and loved hosting family gatherings at his house.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter – Pam (Darrell) Shawl of Connersville, Indiana; one son – Tim (Gina) Bentley of Connersville, Indiana; one brother – Bruce (Jane) Bentley of Connersville, Indiana; two sisters – Maudie “Ellen” Gibbs and Linda Kalkoff both of Connersville, Indiana; five grandchildren – Destini, Jacob, and Joshua Bentley and Nathan and Nolan Shawl all of Connnersville, Indiana. He is also survived by two very special friends who were like his brothers – Kenneth “Joe” Harrison and William “Bill” Davis of Connersville, Indiana; two special brother-in-laws – Robert and Brice McIntyre of Connersville, Indiana and a special uncle – Michael “Mack” Bentley of Hyden, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother – William Bentley and a grandson – Dylan Bentley.
