Omer Maggard

Mr. Omer Maggard 87 of Wooton KY. passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY. Omer was born at Cutshin, KY., on January 29, 1929, the son of the late Isaac Maggard and the late Della Lewis Maggard. He was a retired Coal Miner and had also owned and operated the family grocery Store, garage, car lot, & wrecker service. Omer was a devoted member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeaddiss, Ky.,  and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. He enjoyed fishing, gardening,  and had a passion for music especially playing the banjo and piano.  However his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Omer was a member of the Hyden Masonic lodge # 664.  Omer was preceded in death by his parents:  Isaac & Della Maggard, brothers: Tipp and  Bill, four sisters: Shirley Fouts, Cleda Vernon, Betty Browning ane infant sister. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Mary Gross Maggard of Wooton, KY,  whom he married on July 10, 1948, the love of his life for 67 years, one son: Carl Wayne Maggard of Corbin, KY, two daughters: Phyllis Ann Johnson & Danny of Smilax, Ky, Virginia Melton & Doug of Wooton, KY, one brother: Jimmy Wayne Maggard & Victoria of Phoenix, AZ. two sisters: Lela Mae Money of Tazewell, TN, Betty Viars of Arizona,  five grandchildren: Carl Wayne Maggard, Jr, Kimberly Ann Cornett & Scott, Tanya Maggard Richter, Sherry Ann Fugate & Gerald, Candace Collett & Chris, thirteen great grandchildren: Christopher Douglas Maggard, Keaton Scott Richter, Makenna Jean Richter, Brandon Wayne Maggard, Miranda Maggard, Austin Blake Goins, Dylan Ray Fugate, Gavin Jayce Fugate, Gabriella Melton, Chandler Collett, Winston Collett, Dalton Cornett, Haley Conley, one great great grandchild: Duncan Conley.
