The Obituary for Gillis Martin "Marty" Pennington Gillis Martin "Marty" Pennington of Thousandsticks, Ky. was born on May 3, 1974 in Hazard, KY., the son of Gillis Pennington & Wanda Shepherd Pennington. He passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY. at the age of 41. Marty was a life-long resident of Leslie County by occupation he was a electrician for the coal industry. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing & trail rides. Marty was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Issac Pennington & maternal grandparents, Otis & Marcella Shepherd He leaves the following relatives surviving, parents, Gillis & Wanda Pennington, Wooton, KY., one brother, Eric Pennington, Wooton, KY., paternal grandmother, Katherine Wells, Smilax, KY.,one niece & nephew, Holly & Dirk Pennington, Stinnett, KY. Also survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Kay Woods-Pennington, (daughter of Buster & Deborah Woods), two sons, Tristan Kayson Martin Pennington & Aidan Buster Cole Pennington, sister-in-law, Jessica G. Woods, special niece & nephew, Katelyn Danielle & Matthew Daniel Hacker all of Thousandsticks, KY. Also survived by countless friends & family. The Family would like to thank Dr. Ghazal & all his staff of the Kentucky Cancer Center, Dr. Amy Fowler of Quantum Healthcare & the nurses at the Greg & Norween Wells Hospice Center.
