Lenwood Rowe Langdon

THE OBITUARY OF MR. LENWOOD ROWE LANGDON Mr. Lenwood Rowe Langdon born October 29, 1935 departed this life on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. He was 79 years old. Rowe was born at Bowlingtown- Mosley Bend, near Confluence, Ky. the son of the late Ray Langdon and Nannie Gay. Rowe had a very distinguished military career in the U.S. Navy having served honorably in the Vietnam War. He then continued his military commitment in the U.S. Naval Reserve until September 30, 1975. Rowe was then employed as a policeman with the Long Beach California police department. Rowe was a life-long member of the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter # 133, Hyden, Ky., was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel & was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Rowe was a member of the Anna C. Brush Memorial United Presbyterian Church, Dryhill, Ky., & had been a resident of Leslie Co. since 1991. Rowe was appointed a special deputy sheriff under the terms of Leslie Co. Sheriff Kermit Keen & Paul Howard. Rowe enjoyed fishing, squirrel & rabbit hunting, & being around the water. Mr. Lenwood Rowe Langdon was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Helen Hunt, Jean Langdon, one brother; Dale and one nephew; Wade. Mr. Lenwood Rowe Langdon leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving and devoted wife; Gracie Grace Collett Langdon of Hyden,Ky., one brother; Elmer Landon & wife, Betty of Tennessee, nephews; Dale, Scott, Dewey, Roe, Craig, Stevie, two nieces; Missy, Allison, special friends; Bill, Lois Valentine and children, George Collett, Jr. & Sherry, Helen Shepherd, Troy, Renee, Kacey Stidham, Preston Collett, Gay & Bonnie Sue Hensley, Delaney, Michelle , & Cassady Collett, along with a host of other treasured relatives and friends. TIME AND PLACE OF FUNERAL: 2:00 p.m. - Wednesday - August 19, 2015 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Ky. OFFICIATING MINISTERS: Rev. Sam Baer, Rev. Chuck Jack & Rev. Roger Wolfe VISITATION: 12 p.m. - the funeral hour @ 2:00 p.m. - Wednesday at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Ky FULL MILITARY RITES WILL BE OBSERVED BY THE LESLIE CO.
