Mrs. Marie Ross age 65 of Barbourville departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2015. She was born on January 2, 1950 in Harlan, KY, the daughter of Keffie an Lizzie (Turner) Burkhart. She was a member of the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Mrs. Ross loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Bingo and traveling. During her life she had many endeavors, one of which was selling life insurance, she also ran a roller skating rink and a produce market in Barbourville called the Garden Spot and she was also a hairdresser. She is preceded in death by her parents, Keffie and Lizzie Burkhart, one sister, Ruth Baker and one grandchild, Tabatha Ross Perkins. Left behind to mourn her passing, her former husband of forty years, Alexander Ross, her loving children, Michael Ross and wife Valerie of Fairfield, Ohio, Tina Caldwell and husband Larry of Hyden, Melissa Garland and fiance' Steve Woolum of London and Tim Ross of Yeaddiss, KY, two brothers, Jeff Burkhart and Jake Burkhart and wife Irene of Yeaddiss, KY, one sister, Ruby Baker of Harlan, six grandchildren, Emily Nichole Ross, Samantha, Cody and Brandi Garland, John Gabriel and Jacob Ross, three great grandchildren, Dakota, Keelah and Preston. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Ross will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Garrett Garland officiating. Pallbearers will be, Cody Garland, Steve Woolum, Larry Caldwell, Brandon Smith, Bill Mills and Joe Welch. Burial will be in the Burkhart Family Cemetery in Bledsoe (Harlan County). Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
