The obituary of Mrs. Bessie Jones Couch Mrs. Bessie Jones Couch born February 1, 1933 departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was 82 years old. Bessie was born in Hyden, Ky., the daughter of the late Sherman Jones & Hallie Woods Jones. Bessie received her Bachelor's degree from Cumberland College. She had a very distinguished career in education, having taught 33 years & substituted numerous years after her retirement. Bessie was united in marriage to her husband of 60 years, Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. on May 5, 1951. Bessie was a devoted member of the Thousandsticks United Methodist Church, Thousandsticks, Ky. & was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. She took pleasure in attending the Senior Citizens and visiting with friends. Bessie enjoyed cooking at family gatherings & cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bessie Jones Couch was preceded in death by her parents, her loving and devoted husband, Bige Couch, Jr., her beloved son, Elbert Wayne Couch, brothers; Lester Jones & Cecil Jones, Jr., sisters; Laura Morgan & Georgia Osborne. Mrs. Bessie Jones Couch leaves the following relatives surviving: daughters; Wilma Jean Roberts & William Hoy of Hyden, Ky., Janet Fugate & Dana of Hazard, Deborah Barger & Hubert Dale of Hyden, Ky., Grandchildren;Greg Couch, Tim Couch & Heather, Kim Roberts & Scott Hamilton, Tonya Gay & Darrin, Danica Browning & Jeff, Deana Fugate & John Wright, Chris Barger & Ellen, Brittany Maggard & John, Billy Collett & Melissa, Great Grandchildren; Tanner Horton, Kaley Horton, Greg Couch II, Sydney Couch, Mason Couch, Brady Couch, Chase Couch, Dawson Browning, Kasen Browning, Claire Barger, Molly Barger, Lily Maggard, Wyatt Gay, PresLee Gay, Andrew Collett, Matthew Collett, Aaron Collett, one sister; Rowenna Bauman & Marvin, & host of other treasured relatives and friends.
