The obituary of Mrs. Elizabeth Geraldine "Gerri" Hughes Adams. Mrs. Elizabeth Geraldine "Gerri" Hughes Adams born April 3, 1924 departed this life on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was 90 years old. Geraldine was born at Garrett, Kentucky the daughter of the late William Joseph Hughes & Caroline Harmon. Geraldine was united in marriage to Mr. Denver Adams & spent her adult life as a resident of Hyden, Ky. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker & prominent business owner. She was the former owner of the Rainbow Room Beauty Salon. Geraldine was very active in various community & civic organizations. Geraldine was a member of the Eastern Star Silverbow Chapter, Hyden, Ky. where she served a term as Worthy Matron & a charter member of the Hyden Lions Club, one of the first clubs in the state of Ky., to have women members & served as a Girl Scout Leader. She served as a board member on the Leslie Co. Board of Education and was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Elizabeth Geraldine Hughes Adams was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Denver Adams & brother: Joe Hughes. Mrs. Elizabeth Geraldine Hughes Adams leaves the following relatives: daughters: Phyllis Ann Gunn of Crossville, TN, Katherine Yvonne Adams of Whitley City, KY, Margaret Carolyn Adams Robinette & husband, Jim of London, KY, Dr. Elizabeth Marilyn Feltner & husband, James of Wister, OK, two sisters: Faye Peters of Norwood, OH, Bessie Yancey of Oakridge, TN, 5 grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Strope & Ron, Denver Miller & Marga, Kara Stanton & Tim, Gerri Anna Woods & Danny, and Mandi Melton & Jamie, also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great, grandchildren and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
