***THIS IS A COURTESY OBITUARY**** Shirley Fay Banks, age 66 was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on July 16, 2014, leaving this world a better place for having been here. Her spirit is carried on by Tom Banks, her loving husband of 43 years, her 6 children: Tammy Hahn, Lora Harrison, Penny Browning, Tom Banks, Jr., Tammy Causey and Rebecca Buckles, her 9 grandchildren: Daniel Harrison II, Emma Rose Harrison, Levi Hahn, Luke Hahn, William Junior Browning, Danielle Lewis, Tracy Riddle, Harvey Buckles and Jacob Buckles and her great grandson, Colton Lewis. Shirley graced the world with her presence on the 1st day of March 1948. Born to Troy and Mila Coldiron, Shirley was born 3rd of 11 children. Two siblings preceded her in death. Shirley's spent most of her life in Miami County. She enjoyed the simple things in life but none so much as being a grandmother. She could most often be found attending school functions, watching ballgames, dance recitals, and karate exhibitionsor just having her grandchildren sleep over to indulge their every whim. Her favorite saying was, "MY grandchildren aren't spoiled, they are just well loved!" The love of her family was truly something to experience but her deep abiding love for the Lord is the true legacy she leaves behind. She was a faithful member of the Mexico Baptist Church. She was a quiet yet magnificent prayer warriormany family and friends would be surprised to know they appeared on her prayer list. She possessed a servant's heart and demonstrated this by doing her best to be of assistance wherever, whenever she was needed. She believed in making disciples. She planted seeds and patiently watched God water them, all the time rejoicing in His triumph and giving Him the glory. The faith she demonstrated throughout her long 19 months of battling lung cancer was inspirational to all that surrounded her. She never doubted God's love or plan for her. She trusted the Lord implicitly and held steadfast to His word. She possessed the true peace that surpasses all understandingthe peace that can only be found in our Lord and Savior. For these reasons her family will hold a celebration of Shirley's life, officiated by pastor and dear friend, Dr. Timothy Lueking at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home on Monday, July 21st .
