Mrs. Grace Howard, 91 of Essie, KY., born March 13, 1923 departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center, Hazard, KY. Grace was born at Essie, Ky., the daughter of the late Walter Baker & Chaney Smith Baker. Grace was retired as the postmistress at the Hoskinston, Ky. post officer where she served for 36 years. She was a devoted member of the Stinnett Church of Christ & was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Grace enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, and most importantly being involved in the lives of her children and grandson. Mrs. Grace Howard was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Oakley Howard, daughter: Patsy Baker, grandson: James Oakley Baker, brothers: Miller Baker, Mack Baker, sisters: Dorothy Estridge, Rose Asher & Alice Faye Taylor & half-sisters: Eva Morgan, Reatha Hammersly & Margaret Cox. Mrs. Grace Howard leaves the following relatives surviving: her beloved daughter: Regina Plant and husband, Lyndin of Stinnett, Ky., her beloved grandson: Trent Garrison and wife Catherine, brothers: Maynard Baker of Confluence, Ky., John Baker & wife, Martha of Nancy, Ky., sisters: Barbara Brock of Rutledge, Tennessee, Pauline Roberts of Hoskinston, Ky. & special friends & neighbors :Rick & Nancy Couch & a host of treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
