Bowling of 200 Veterans Drive, Hazard, KY., formerly of Leslie Co. & Pulaski Co. was born on April 6, 1932 in Hyden, KY. the son of the late Ott Bowling & Rachel Johnson Bowling. He passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY. at the age of 82 years, 2 months & 5 days. By occupation Roy was a former Minister of the Solid Rock Bible Chapel, Cinda, KY. for 32 years & also a self-employed carpenter. Roy served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean. Roy also was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Fire Dept. & was the Chaplain for the Fire Dept. He enjoyed playing guitar & was very devoted to his Church & family. Rev. Roy D. Bowling was preceded in death by: his parents, Ott & Rachel Johnson Bowling, his loving & devoted wife, Evelyn Lewis Bowling, 2 brothers, Vance & Ted Bowling. He leaves the following relatives surviving: daughter, Sue Sizemore & Tim of Somerset, KY., 2 brothers, Vernon Bowling & Christine of Connersville, IN. & Marshall Bowling & Wilma of Connersville, IN., 5 sisters, Francis Lewis of Hyden, KY., Glenna Combs of Manchester, KY., Shirley Hunt & Bob of Liberty, IN., Jewell Stidham of Hyden, KY. & Delphia Aberathy of Middletown, OH., 3 grandchildren, Erica Danielle Sizemore, Timothy Noah Daniel Sizemore & Nevaeh Lynn Deaton & a host of nieces, nephews other relatives & friends survive. FUNERAL: Saturday, June 14, 2014 @ 1:00 P.M. at the Solid Rock Bible Chapel at Cinda, KY. MINSTERS: Chris Sale & Robbie Horton INTERMENT: Grassy Gap Cemetery (Hurricane Creek), Hyden, KY., with Military Rites performed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter #133 PALLBEARERS: Bobby Lee Hunt, Jason Gibson, Jeremy Gibson, Austin Asher, Joshua Sale, Tim Sizemore, Dillion Hudson & Richard Woods VISITATION: Friday, June 13, 2014 @ 6:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel, with additional services @ 7:00 P.M.
