Johnie P. Gross 76 of Yeaddiss, KY., passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Kentucky River Medical Center. He was born in Causey, KY on February 24, 1937, the son of the late Dewey Gross and the late Rebecca Pennington Gross. By occupation he was a retired UMWA coal miner. Johnie Gross was a member of the Church of Christ and had been a lifelong resident of Leslie County. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Johnie was preceded in death by his parents: Dewey & Rebecca Pennington Gross, three brothers: Morgan Gross, Henry Gross and Willard Gross, sister: Parlee Witt, one infant brother: Purl, one infant sister: Jenny, four brother-in-laws, Elmer Witt, Ray Pennington, Bruce Woods, & Bob Harris, and two nephews. He leaves surviving the following relatives: Loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lillian Ruth Lewis Gross of Yeaddiss, KY, one son: Jeffrey Gross & Debbie of Yeaddiss, KY, two daughters: Karen Williams & Don of Wooton, KY & Sharon Sauer of Brazil, IN, one brother: Chrisley Gross & Irene of Smilax, KY, five sisters: Mallie Pennington of Yeaddiss, KY, Alice Woods of Marion, IN, Jane Harris of Marion, IN, Jewell Mobley & Bill of La Fontaine, IN & Mary Baker & Ernest of Wooton, KY, nine grandchildren: Tessa Harris, Justin Gross & Tiffany, Jeffrey Gross, Jr, Zackariah Gross, Jennifer Johnson & Shane, Jesse Williams, Samuel Bunch, Dewey John Bunch, Jemima Robinson & Travis, seven great-grandchildren, 8 nephews, 4 nieces, and a host of other treasured relatives and friends.
