The obituary for Mr. Levi Asher. Officiating Ministers: Rev. Herbert Hicks & Rev. Alfred Smith. Mr. Levi Asher was born on December 29, 1922 and departed this life on August 9, 2009. He was the son of the late Lige Asher & the late Dallie Coots Asher. He was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. Levi was a Veteran of WWII (purple heart reciptent). By occupation he was a retired coal miner. Some of his hobbies included: hunting, fishing, knife trading, ginseng and collecting coins. He was affiliated with the Smith Camp Church of God in Wooton, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of children: Rosa Asher; and a host of brothers and sisters. He leaves surviving the following relatives: wife; Edith Williams Asher of Wooton, KY; four sons: George Asher & Evelyn of Wooton, KY, Bud Asher of Wooton, KY, Winford Asher & Debbie of Somerset, KY and Buster Asher of Yeaddiss, KY; two daughters: Maxine Asher of Hyden, KY and Marlene Fields & Leonard of Wooton, KY; one step-son: Roger Davidson & Pauline of Smilax, KY; four step-daughters: June Roberts & Bob of Frankfort, KY, Mildred Brock & Carlos of Wooton, KY, Mary Lewis & Roger of Wooton, KY and Tammy Adams & Tate of Hyden, KY; one brother: Rufus Asher of Wooton, KY; one sister: Shirley Rose Reaves of Wooton, KY; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Levi Asher will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Levi Asher Cemetery in Yeaddiss, KY following the funeral service. Military rites observed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter #133.
