Gilbert was born on December 13, 1950 in Hyden, KY. and passed away on June 5, 2012 at his residence at 404 Muncy's Creek Rd. ~ Stinnett, KY. He was 61 years of age at the time of his passing. George was the Son of the late Ace Gilbert & the late Lola Mae Hoskins Gilbert and was the Husband of Barbara Sue Farmer Gilbert. By occupation he was a Surface Coal Miner employed by ARCH Mineral. George was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. He was a member of Stinnett Church of Christ and enjoyed four wheeling as a hobby. He also served as the current Chief of Stinnett Volunteer Fire Department where he was a Member since 1989 and being an EMT for 20 years. George was Preceded in Death by: Parents: Ace Gilbert & Lola Mae Hoskins Gilbert. George is survived by his Wife: Barbara Sue Farmer Gilbert of Stinnett, KY.; Sons: George Anthony Gilbert & Patricia of Hyden, KY. and Greg Gilbert & Rita of Hyden, KY.; Brothers: Ace Gilbert, Jr. & Kathy of Hyden, KY. and James Earl Gilbert & Helen of Stinnett, KY.; Sisters: Patsy Howard of Stinnett, KY. and Judy Gilbert of Stinnett, KY.; Grandchildren: Kody, Geordon, Christopher, Chase, Caden & Logan. Funeral services for Mr. George D. Gilbert will be conducted on Friday ~ June 8, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Stinnett Church of Christ with Keith Bowling & Coy Duff officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilbert Family Cemetery ~ Stinnett, KY. Visitation will be on Thursday ~ June 7, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home ~ Hyden, KY.
