The Obituary of Mrs. Gladys Melton Mattingly Officiating Minister: Merle Caudill Mrs. Gladys Melton Mattingly was born on November 24, 1916 in Stinnett, KY. and departed this life on September 25, 2011 at Friendship Manor in Pewee Valley, KY. at the age of 94 years. Gladys was the Daughter of the late Elijah Hoskins and the late Stella Farmer Hoskins and Wife of the late Tom Melton. She was formerly a Clothing & Sales Apparel Associate, employed by Dawahares. She was a resident of Peewee Valley for 3.5 years coming from Louisville, KY. She was a Member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Hyden, KY. Gladys enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was Preceded in Death by: Parents: Elijah & Stella Farmer Hoskins; First Husband: Tom Melton; Second Husband: James Mattingly, 2 Sons: James Vernon Melton and Curtis Reed Melton; Sisters: Hazel Joseph, Dolly Melton & Mona Layman & Brothers: Harrell Hoskins, Kenneth Hoskins, Clellan Hoskins & Bobby Hoskins Mrs. Gladys Hoskins Melton leaves the following relatives surviving: Son: Thomas Edward Melton & Jean of La Grange, KY.; Brother: Rexford Hoskins of Virginia; Sisters: Vivien Reinhardt of Peewee Valley, KY. and Rosalee Hensley of Corbin, KY.; 8 Grandchildren,a host of Great-Grandchildren & 1 Great-Great Grandchild. Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Melton Mattingly will be conducted on Thursday ~ September 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home ~ Hyden, KY., with Merle Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery ~ Hyden, KY. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon until time of Funeral at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
