Denver Lewis

The obituary of Mr. Denver Lewis Officiating Minister: Rev. Kermit Creech Mr. Denver Lewis born May 19, 1922 departed this life on April 18, 2011 at the age of 88 years. He was born at White Oak, Kentucky the son of the late Steve Lewis and the late Cindy Blevins Lewis. By occupation he was a retired self employed carpenter. Mr. Denver Lewis was a U. S Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Pine Mountain Church of God and had been a life-long resident of Harlan and Leslie Counties. Mr. Lewis enjoyed hunting and going to church, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Cindy; wife: Gracie Turner Lewis; five brothers: John C. Lewis, Covie Lewis, Henry Lewis, Arthur Boggs and Junior Boggs; one sister: Polly Jane Turner. He leaves surviving the following relatives: two sons: Denver Lewis, Jr. & wife Trish of Bledsoe, KY, Kenneth Lewis & wife Loretta of Yeaddiss, KY, five daughters: Carol Jean Morris & husband Phil of Lexington, KY, Irene Lewis of Lexington, KY, Mary Carter & husband Mike of Lexington, KY, Martha Reynolds & husband Randy of Hazard, Ky, Lorene Gross & Matt of Yeaddiss, KY, one grandson whom he raised as his son: Tony Lewis of Bledsoe, KY, three sisters: Dallie Joseph of Corbin, KY, Elizabeth Haskett of Hebron, KY and Martha Morgan of Hoskinston, KY. Mr. Denver Lewis is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Denver Lewis will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday - April 21, 2011 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kermit Creech officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery at Yeaddiss, Ky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Tony Lewis, Michael Lewis, Everett Lee Denniston, Geoffery Brewer, Jeremy Thompson, Seay Thompson & Jody Osborne.
