Vincenta C. Colwell

Vincenta C. Colwell, age 85 of Miamisburg, OH, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at her residence. She was born August 9, 1924 in Hyden, KY to the late William Jes and Hallie (Eversole) Maggard. In addition to her parents, Vincenta was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Woods (1973); an infant child; brothers, Eugene, Junior and Joe Maggard and a sister, Vivian Janutalo. She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Adam Colwell of Miamisburg; son Billy Jo (Sharon) Woods of Hyden, KY; step-daughters, Daphene (Russ) Paxton, Deb (Paul) Schum, Bobbie Jo (Rusty) Reed; step-son, Randy (Sharon) Colwell; grandsons Jeremy and Jason Wood; 6 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren; sister, Sophia Sizemore of FL, 5 nieces, 4 nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews. Vincenta loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a graduate of Leslie County High School in Kentucky before serving for the U.S. Army where she was awarded a Victory Medal, an American Theater Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal during WWII. Later she owned and operated Woods Ashland Service Station in Hyden and was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. During her residency in Ohio she attended the Miamisburg Full Gospel Tabernacle and considered the congregation her family. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, June 10. 2010 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Additional visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm on Friday, June 11, at Central Presbyterian Church, Hyden, KY with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Full Military Rites will be observed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133. Burial will take place at Maggard Family Cemetery.
