The Obituary of Mrs. Martha Nantz Officiating Ministers: Pastor Steve Springer, Rev. Charles Jack and Troy McNeil Martha Cook Nantz was born September 7, 1916. She was the daughter of Robert Sherman and Sallie Mosley Cook. Granddaughter of Dr. Green Monroe and Martha Turner Cook and W.S. and Rebecca Howard Mosley. Great-granddaughter of John Jefferson and Elizabeth Estridge Howard, and Dr. George W. and Martha Melvina Royston Cook, Samuel and Sallie Mosley, and Minatree and Sarah Robins Turner. Great-great Granddaughter of Michael and Anna Marie Rader Cook, Adron and Hannah Lewis Howard, John C. and Mary Jane Pennington Turner, and Alexander and Matilda Robins. Great-great-great granddaughter of George Kock (Cook) and Elizabeth Brock Cook of Germany and Samuel and Chloe Osborne Howard.Martha married Fred J. Nantz of Helton on June 6, 1946. Martha was proceeded in death by her parents, Sherman and Sallie Cook, her husband, Fred J. Nantz on 01-11-1986, and her oldest daughter, Sally Ann Nantz, her sister Juanita Cook Welch and three brothers, Charles, Warren, and Paul. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Carol Nantz, her son, Fred Jerry Nantz, Jr. and his wife Jill, and granddaughters, Angela, Melissa (and husband Troy McNeil), and Rebecca. Martha grew up on Beech Fork, attended grade school at Lower Beech Fork and went to Red Bird high school, graduating in 1936. She attended Morehead College, Lees College, Witherspoon College at Buckhorn, and finally graduated from Cumberland College in 1965. Martha lived her life no more than 100 yards from where she grew up. Martha was a charter member of the Lower Beech Fork United Methodist Church. Martha was baptized and became a member of the Lower Beech Fork church on May 18, 1930 at the age of thirteen. She was a faithful worker in the church her entire adult life. She taught Sunday School and Bible School, held offices in the United Methodist Women, planned meals, and was treasurer of the church for many years. Martha loved the church and served it with dignity and grace. She considered tithing an important part of her Christian life and encouraged her children to tithe faithfully.Martha taught school for thirty years. She began teaching in one-room schools and finished her career in a consolidated eight-room elementary school. She was a devoted wife and mother. She believed in raising her children in a Christian atmosphere. She and her husband, Fred, set the example of a Christian home. She often helped other children get an education even though it was a hardship on the family finances. She believed that was part of her duty as a Christian and educator. Martha enjoyed vacationing with her family and later, with her granddaughters. She attended the 1982 Worlds Fair in Knoxville, TN. She enjoyed visiting with relatives, especially her sister, Juanita. They spent many hours talking about their memories. She enjoyed growing flowers and wanted flowers around the church during the summer. The funeral services for Mrs. Martha Cook Nantz will be conducted at 12 Noon-Saturday-January 28, 2012 at the Lower Beech Fork United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Springer, Rev. Charles Jack and Troy McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in the Mosley Family Cemetery located at Mozelle, KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Rickey Paul Ervin, Bobby Turner, Matt Mosley, Troy McNeil, Larry Cook, Warren Gary Cook, Doug Motzer and Harvey Dean Muncy. The Honorary pallbearers will be: Fritz Mosley, Vance Mosley, Doug Adams and Ronnie Strunk. Friends may call for visitation at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Lower Beech Fork United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Martha C.
