Mrs. Rosie Lewis was born on September 25, 1934 and departed this life on July 23, 2008 at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 3 days. She was a lifelong resident of Leslie County, the daughter of the late Juder Lewis and the late Helen Couch Lewis. By occupation she was a homemaker, and enjoyed going to the Pentecostal church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Cleon Lewis; sisters: Nancy Welch and Mae Rochinski; granddaughter: Regina Kay Calvert; great-grandson: Jaydon Calvert. She leaves surviving the following relatives: three sons: Johnnie Wayne Lewis & Nita of Hyden, KY, Donald Ray Lewis & Betsy of Hyden, KY, Michael Anthony Lewis & Randi of Dayton, OH; three daughters: Phyllis Ann Smith & Charlie of Dayton, OH, Christina Kay Calvert & Bob of Dayton, OH, and Angela Michelle Purvis & Kenneth of Thousandsticks, KY; four brothers: Clinton Lewis, Frank Lewis, Thurman Lewis, Purl Lewis all of Thousandsticks, KY; three sisters: Sadie Rice, Polly Shaffer, and Mildred Freeman; six grandchildren: Charles Calvert, Jr., Regina Calvert, Thomas Calvert, Michael Lewis, Chase Taylor, and Kenneth Pervis; four great-grandchildren: Zachary Calvert, Ryan Calvert, Jaydon Calvert, and Leiland Calvert. Also survived by a a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Rosie Lewis will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at the funeral home.
