Mrs. Wilma Irene Asher was born on April 17, 1915 and departed this life on June 25, 2008 at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She was born in Hyden, Kentucky and was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. She was the daughter of the late Charles Roberts and the late Jessie Eversole Roberts. By occupation she was a homemaker. Some of her hobbies included gardening, playing piano, dancing, and she was actively involved in the lives of her children. She was also honored by being in the Mary Breckinridge Parade. Mrs. Wilma Irene Asher was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Roberts & Jessie Eversole Roberts; husband: Haze Asher; one son: Charles Edward Asher; one grandson: Billy Haze Davis. She leaves surviving the following relatives: four sons: Robert Bige Asher & Linda of Madison, IN, Walton P. Asher & Brenda of Sevierville, TN, Haze Asher Jr. & Keta of Dillsboro, IN, and Donnie Wayne & Angie of Hazard, KY: five daughters: Christine Stacy & Joe of Cullowhee, NC, Sophia Burns & Green Richard of Indianapolis, IN, Jeanette Baker & Johnny of Hyden, KY, Martha Beuter of Jonesboro, GA, and Zilpha Sizemore & Willie of Hudson, FL; one brother: Floyd Hall & Aileen of Hazard, KY; 33 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Irene Roberts Asher will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 28, 2008 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Hyden, Kentucky with Rev. Cecil Morgan and Rev. Jeff Stagg officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at the Joe Roberts Cemetery in Hyden, Kentucky under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home staff.
