The Obituary of Mrs. Helen Chappell Shepherd Officiating Ministers: Rev. Chuck Jack, Rev. James Bowling, Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Ward Mrs. Helen Chappell Shepherd was born on August 31, 1928 and departed this life on Friday ~ December 14, 2012 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH in Hyden, KY. at the age of 84 years. She was born at Bowen's Creek in Leslie County. She was the Daughter of the late Ambrose Chappell and Cordie Griffith Chappell. Helen was a homemaker and a devoted member of the Bowen's Creek United Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, fishing gardening, animals - taking care of her dogs, & most of all being involved in the lives of her family. Helen Chappell Shepherd was Preceded in Death by her Parents: Ambrose Chappell and Cordie Griffith Chappell; Her Loving and Devoted Husband: Donley Shepherd; Brother: Wilson Chappell; Sisters: Martha Chappell & Mary Magdalene Chappell. Mrs. Helen Chappell Shepherd leaves the following relatives surviving: Sons: Lewis Shepherd and wife Elaine of Hoskinston, KY. and Donald Shepherd and wife, Gloria of Owensboro, KY.; Daughter: Betty Shepherd of Roark, KY.; Brothers: Herman Chappell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chris Chappell, C. B. Chappell and Willard Chappell all of Sand Gap, KY.; Sisters: Juanita Wagers of Beverly, KY., Pauline Jones of Hamilton, Ohio and Virginia Sasser of Hamilton, Ohio; Grandchildren: Matt Woodburn Shepherd, Benjamin Donald Shepherd and Holly Marie Shepherd; Great-Granddaughter: Kimberly Marie Shepherd; A host of other treasured relatives and friends also survive. The funeral for Mrs. Helen Chappell Shepherd will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. - Wednesday - December 19, 2012 at the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church, Roark, KY. with Rev. Chuck Jack, Rev. James Bowling, Jr., and Rev. Jimmy Ward officiating. The interment will follow in the Oakley Cave Fork Cemetery ~ Roark, KY.
