The obituary of Mr. Elbert Wayne Couch Officiating Minister: Rev. Andrew B. Farmer Mr. Elbert Wayne Couch was born October 1, 1951 in Hyden, Kentucky the son of Bige Couch, Jr. and Bessie Jones Couch. He passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was 58 years, 7 months and one day old at the time of his passing. Elbert Wayne was a graduate of Leslie Co. High School, Lees Jr. College, & received his B.A. from Cumberland College. Elbert Wayne received his Rank 1 & Master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Elbert Wayne was a retired teacher & transportation director in the Leslie Co. School System. He was very active in organizing & supporting local youth sports activities. Elbert Wayne was a very respected basketball official in the 14th region. He enjoyed gardening as a hobby & would give the produce away to family and friends. Mr. Elbert Wayne Couch leaves the following relatives surviving: parents: Bige Couch, Jr. & Bessie of Hyden, KY; two sons: Greg Couch & wife Tracey of Lexington, Ky, Tim Couch & wife Heather of Lexington, KY; mother of children: Janice Couch of McRoberts,Ky. three sisters: Wilma Roberts & husband William H. of Hyden, KY, Janet Fugate & Husband Dana of Hazard, KY, Deborah Barger & Husband Dale of Hyden, KY; five grandchildren; Greg, Sydney, Mason, Chase and Brady. Elbert Wayne is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mr. Elbert Wayne Couch will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Wednesday-May 5, 2010 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew B. Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Couch's Fork Cemetery at Bear Branch, Kentucky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Toddie Cleamons, Fred Ratliff, Talbott Todd, Chris Barger, Dana Fugate, Dale Barger, William Roberts and John Fee.
