The obituary of Mrs. Laura Ann Sandlin Officiating Ministers: Danny Day, Harold Turner, Paul Baker, Keith Bowling and Johnny Day Mrs. Laura Ann Sandlin was born on June 27, 1962 and departed this life on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her residence, 786 Granny Fork Road, Smilax, Ky. She was 50 years of age at the time of her passing. Laura was born at Hazard, Ky., the Daughter of Billy Ray Day & Peggy Mosley. She was a former Respiratory Therapist at Mary Breckinridge Hospital, Co-Owner & Manager of Miner's Market, Smilax, KY. and a homemaker. Laura Ann was a former Leslie County School Board Member and had been a life long resident of Leslie County. She was a devoted member of the Smilax Church Of Christ and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Laura Ann enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, camping, the outdoors, and entertaining friends. Laura took the initiative & was instrumental in organizing and hosting family functions and holiday celebrations. Laura's sisters respected her as the matriarch of the Day Family. Laura most importantly loved being involved in the life of her husband, sons and other treasured family members. Laura Ann Sandlin was Preceded in Death by her Nephew: Jacob; two Infant Brothers: Billy Ray Day, Jr. and Jeffery Day. Laura leaves the following relatives surviving: Her Loving & Devoted Husband, Rick Sandlin of Smilax, KY.; her Parents: Billy Ray Day and Peggy Mosley Day of Smilax, KY.; two Sons: David Sandlin & Justin Sandlin of Smilax, KY.; three Sisters: Arlene Day & husband, Paul of Wooton, KY., Billie Sue Cornett and husband, Danny, of Wooton, KY., and Tracy Estridge & husband, Jim of Wooton, KY. The funeral service for Mrs. Laura Ann Sandlin will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. - Tuesday - July 24, 2012 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Danny Day, Harold Turner, Paul Baker, Keith Bowling and Johnny Day officiating. The interment will follow in the Sandlin Family Cemetery, Smilax, KY with the following serving as Pallbearers: Jim Estridge, Benny Day, Timmy Baker, Dusty Baker, Roger Boggs, Kenneth Day, Bill Day, Wayne Day, Larry Sandlin and Bobby Day.
