The obituary of Mr. Lincoln Benny "L.B." Stacy Officiating Minister: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis Mr. Lincoln Benny "L.B." Stacy was born on March 6, 1918 and departed this life on August 28, 2009 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. He was 91 years,5 months, & 10 days old. L.B. was born at Blackey, Virginia. He was the son of the late George K. Stacy and the late Pearley Adams Stacy. L.B. started working for Ritter Lumber Co. in McClure, Virginia at the age of 16. L.B. left Ritter Lumber in 1957 (after the 1957 flood destroyed the mill.) L.B. then became a self-employed electrical & plumbing contractor. He was also a an employee for Preston Oil Company for over 20 years. L.B. was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Mr. L.B. Stacy was the Co-Founder of the Hyden Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in 1978. L.B. volunteered countless hours which enabled the volunteer fire department to succeed. He was instrumental & dedicated in obtaining funding for equipment & ensuring the financial stability of the volunteer fire departments. L.B. was so respected by his volunteer fireman peers the L.B. Stacy award was established in his honor. This is an annual award presented to the outstanding volunteer fireman in Leslie Co. & is voted on by volunteer fireman themselves. L.B. was the first recipient. He was serving as the Fire Chief of the Hyden Volunteer Fire Dept at the time of his death. L.B. and his wife Anna were honored to serve as the Grand Marshals of the 2008 Leslie County Christmas Parade. L.B. was an invaluable asset to Hyden & Leslie Co. for his genuine concern which was evident through his many years of volunteer service without pay to his hometown community. Some of his hobbies included woodworking, fishing, hunting, cooking and also berry picking. L.B. was living at 1880 Owl's Nest Road, Hyden,at the time of his death. LB. & Ann had been residents of Leslie County since 1946. L.B. was preceded in death by his parents: George and Pearley Stacy; one daughter: Linda Spurlock; one son: L.B. Stacy, Jr.; one sister: Lillian Hurt; one brother: Harold Stacy. Mrs. L.B. Stacy leaves surviving the following relatives: his loving & devoted wife: Anna Jane Watterson Stacy of Hyden, Ky.; one son: Gregory Keith Stacy & Cynthia of Lexington, KY; four daughters: Erma Kemble & Ronald of Lexington, KY, Deanna Stacy of Lexington, Ky, Teresa Stacy & Hope Bault of Salvisa, KY, Kim Stacy & Anne Harrison of Willisburg, KY; four sisters: Sue Hightower of Wooton, KY, Melda Faye Sizemore of Big Creek, KY, Betty Ponder of Florida and Ruth Holbrook of Florida. Mr. L.B. Stacy is also survived by 13 grandchildren, numerous Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. L.B. Stacy will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday-September 1, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m Monday- August 31, 2009 at the funeral home chapel.
