The Obituary of Mrs. Retha Collett Officiating Ministers: Rev. Taylor Adams & Rev. Carl Brown Mrs. Retha Collett was born on September 3, 1943 in Roark, KY. and passed away on Sunday ~ August 5, 2012 at her daughters residence at 136 Trapper Dr. ~ Woodlawn, VA. at the age of 68 years. Retha was the Daughter of the late Lewis Griffith and the late Opha Roark Griffith. By occupation she was a Homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of Essie, KY. Retha was a Member of the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church in Essie, KY. and enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, but most importantly she enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children & grandchildren. She was Preceded in Death by: Parents: Lewis Griffith & Opha Roark Griffith; Brother: John Whitehead; Sisters: Ruth Duncan and Edith Bowling. Retha leaves the following relatives surviving: Loving & Devoted Husband: France Collett of Essie, KY.; Sons: Steven Collett & Tina of Essie, KY., Alvin Collett & Amy of Fancy Gap, VA., Marvin Collett & Gina of Essie, KY. and Bonnell "Bo" Owen Collett & Jacqueline of Fancy Gap, VA.; Daughters: Julie Kinney & Shane of Woodlawn, VA. and Zandra Asher & Hershel Joey of Wilmington, OH.; Brothers: Leonard Griffith of Beverly, KY., Eugene Griffith & Martha of Somerset, KY., Billy Ray Griffith & Edna of Mount Vernon, KY. and Ricky Griffith of Big Creek, KY.; Sisters: Lucille Addy of Somerset, KY., Nancy Muncy of Rockcastle County, KY. and Freida Lawson of Big Creek, KY.; 15 Grandchildren & 2 Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Retha Collett will be conducted on Thursday ~ August 9, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bowen's Creek United Baptist Church with Rev. Taylor Adams & Rev. Carl Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Collett Family Cemetery in Essie, KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Travis Kinney, John Steven Collett, Levi Collett, Brandon Collett, Joseph Collett & Joe Asher.
