Mr. Ossel Day

Mr. Ossel Day, born April 14, 1937 departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center. He was 76 years old. Ossel was born at Cutshin, Ky., the son of the late Sarah Fouts Kirby. He was a retired coal miner having been employed by the Blue Diamond Coal Co. Ossel was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Ky., and the Hyden Masonic Lodge # 664. He was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., and was residing at 786 Baker Fork Road, Yeaddiss, Ky., at the time of his death. Ossel enjoyed gardening and was an avid coon hunter. Mr. Ossel Day was preceded in death by his mother: Sarah Fouts Kirby, three sisters: Edith Williams, Belva Turner, Grace Sizemore and one brother: Burchell Pennington. Mr. Ossel Day leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving and devoted wife: Elaine Pennington Day of Yeaddiss, Ky., one son: Christopher Ray Day of Yeaddiss, Ky., one daughter: Melissa Day of Cutshin, Ky., step-daughter: Angela Kay Dykes of Yeaddiss, Ky., mother-in-law: Mallie Pennington of Yeaddiss, Ky.., one brother: Johnny Fouts of Hyden, Ky., one sister: Ruth Ellen Fields and husband, Linville of Big Creek, Ky., and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Ossel Day will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. -Monday- April 29, 2013 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Hyden, Ky., with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. The interment will follow in the Beech Bottom Branch Cemetery, Cutshin, Ky. Friends may call for visitation at 6:00 p.m. - Sunday - April 28, 2013 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home.
