The Obituary of Mr. John "J.C." Walker Officiating Ministers: Rev. Ray Wilson, Rev. Eugene "Friday" Roberts, and Robert Dean Bray Mr. John "J.C." Walker was born on April 4, 1934 and departed this life on July 17, 2010 at his residence at 24411 Hwy 421 Hyden, KY. He was 76 years of age at the time of his passing. He was the son of the late Russell Walker & the late Ollie Blanton. He was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. By occupation he was a retired coal miner and saw-mill worker. He was employed by Begley Lumber Company. He was of the Pentecostal belief. He enjoyed gun & knife collecting, ginsenging, fishing, yard sales and cooking. He was Constable for one term. John "J.C." Walker was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Gertrude Bennie Walker; Brothers: Hiram, Woodrow, Paul, Bob & Millard; Sisters: Mary Costello, Florence Day; Grandson: John Colts Gray He leaves the following relatives surviving: Son: Roger Smallwood of Hyden, KY.; Grandson he raised as Son: Russell Nathan Walker & Leandra of Essie, KY.; Daughters: Deborah Walker and Lisa Walker both of Hyden, KY.; Granddaughter he raised as Daughter: Melinda Walker Turner of Yeaddiss, KY.; Sisters: Martha Brown of Ohio; 3 Grandchildren: Rodney Collins, Brian Ethan Chappell and Billy John; 4 Great Grandchildren: Kimberly Helen Turner, Sarah Ann Walker, Gabriel Lynn Walker and Natalee Lakendra Walker & a special friend: Haley Bowling Funeral arrangements for Mr. John "J.C." Walker will be conducted on Thursday - July 22, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Wilson, Rev. Eugene "Friday" Roberts, and Robert Dean Bray officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Bray Cemetery at Stinnett (Muncy's Creek), KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Nathan Walker, Rodney Collins, James Clay McCall, Bobby Walker, Michael Turner, John Wilder, Tony Dodson and Al Dodson. Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., all day Wednesday and until time of funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
