The obituary of Mrs. Mary Ellen Messer Officiating Ministers: Clarence Howard, Pete McGhee & Sam Fields Mrs. Mary Ellen Messer born May 31, 1934 departed this life on Friday, November 29, 2013 at her residence, 9826 Ky. Hwy. # 476, Hazard, Ky. 41701. She was 79 years of age at the time of her passing. Mary Ellen was born at Toulouse, Ky., the daughter of the late Mitchell Feltner & Mae Edwards Feltner. Mary Ellen was a retired employee of the Hazard Vocational School having worked in the maintenance department. She was a devoted member of the Big Willard Church of Christ. Mary Ellen was an avid University of Ky. basketball fan & enjoyed gardening & cleaning & adored her cat Prissy. Mary Ellen was a former resident of Leslie Co. & had been a resident of Hazard, Ky., for the past 33 years. Mrs. Mary Ellen Messer was preceded in death by her parents, her loving and devoted husband: Irvine Messer, one brother: Alvy Feltner & one sister: Louise Colwell. Mrs. Mary Ellen Messer leaves the following relatives surviving: one son: Joseph Mitchell Messer & wife, Carolyn of Busy, Ky., one daughter: Ivolene Messer of Hazard, Ky., one brother: Carter Feltner, & wife, Christine, of Fairfield, Ohio, three grandchildren: Tammy Messer, Timothy Messer & wife, Jessica & Pamela Hernandez and husband, Ricky. Eight great grandchildren, and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends survive.
