James was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., by occupation He was a Coal Miner for Bledsoe Coal Co., He was affiliated with the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, Ky. James enjoyed boating & fishing. James Levi Smith leaves the following relatives surviving: Mother & Step-Father: Bessie Rice & Carlo Rice of Horse Branch, Ky., Father & Step-Mother: Levi Smith, Jr. & Jean Smith of Essie, Ky., Sons: Quentin Smith of Mckee, Ky & Ethan Smith of Mckee, Ky., Brothers: David Smith of Essie, Ky., Charles Chester Smith of Essie, Ky. & Cecil Collett of Warbranch, Ky., Sisters: Susan Rice of Horse Branch, KY. & Alice Bowling of Thousandsticks, Ky., Grandchildren: Wyatt Smith & Emily Smith, Special Nephews: James Bowling, Charles Smith, Derrell Bowling, Jesse Smith & Tyler Smith, Special Niece: Kristin Smith & Special Friend: Sherry Barrett. Also a host of other relatives & friends survive. Funeral service for James Levi Smith will be conducted on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, Ky., with Rev. Charles Jack & Rev. Sheldon Collett officiating. Burial will follow in the James Levi Smith Family Cemetery at Hyden, Ky. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Quentin Smith, James Bowling, Derrell Bowling, Jessie Smith, Charles Smith & Aaron Smith.
