Ray Wilson Mrs. Elizabeth Shepherd Fields born September 08, 1918 departed this life on March 05, 2009 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital, Hyden, Ky. She was 90 years, 5 months, & 25 days old. Elizabeth was born at Cutshin, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James M. Shepherd & Martha Jane Shepherd. Elizabeth spent her formative years in Benham & Lynch, Kentucky, moving to Leslie Co. in the mid - 1940's. She was retired from the Frontier Nursing Service, having been employed as a nurse's aid at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital. Elizabeth was a member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church, Hyden, Ky. She was an avid reader. Elizabeth greatest joy was being involved in the lives of her children & grandchildren. Mrs. Elizabeth Shepherd Fields was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar Fields, Sr., one son, Ralph Fields, four brothers, John C. Shepherd, Stanley Shepherd, two infant brothers, three sisters, Hazel Dixon, Georgia Glasgow, & Mary O'Shell. Mrs. Elizabeth Shepherd Fields leaves the following relatives surviving: two sons: James Neal Fields of Hyden, Ky., Oscar Fields, Jr. & wife, Charlene, of Hyden, Ky., three daughters: Grace Fenior & husband, Gary, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ruth Hamblin & husband, Ader, of Hyden, Ky., Bobbie Washer & husband, Robert, of Versailles, Ky., one step-son: Otis Fields & wife, Wanda, of Carthage, Missouri, two brothers: Jack Shepherd & wife, Nancy, of Joplin, Missouri, Martin Shepherd & wife, Virgie, of Corbin, Ky., thirteen grandchildren: Chris, Greg, Gina, Erin, Brice, Sonja, Travis, Merinda, Ashley, Walter Dean, Tammy, Darlene, Rita, & a host of great & great, great, grandchildren, & a special friend, Linda Johnson. The funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth Shepherd Fields will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. - Sunday, March 08, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. The interment will follow in the Grassy Gap Cemetery, Hyden, Ky., under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff. The following serve as pallbearers: Randy McCarty, Greg Fenior, Travis Fields, Shawn Barnhill, Buddy Hamblin, Brice Fields, Brian Greer and Cody Ritchie.
