Chuck Jack Mr. Homer Smith was born March 8, 1945 at Beverly, Kentucky, the son of the late Claude Smith & Linda Jane Slusher Smith Sizemore. He passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at his residence at 30 Birchfork Rd., Roark, Ky., at the age of 67 years, 8 months & 7 days. Homer was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation Homer was a retired Coal Engineer & Director of Management for Stansbury Coal Co. He was a member of the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, Ky. & attended the Bowen's Creek Baptist Church at Essie, KY. He was a member of the Red Bird Alumni Association & also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Red Bird Mission. He enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, target shooting & politics. Homer Smith was preceded in death by his parents: Claude Smith & Linda Jane Slusher Smith Sizemore, one brother: Vernon Smith & one sister: Gail Sue Sizemore Asher He leaves the following relatives surviving: His Loving & Devoted Wife: Barbara Sue Lewis Smith of Roark, Ky., Mother-in-Law : Wanda Lewis of Wooton, KY, one daughter: Donna Renee Asher & Harold W. of Roark, KY., four sons: Homer David Smith & Tammie Morgan of Stinnett, KY., Shaun Derek Smith & Fiance' Kellie Nicole Sizemore of Big Creek, KY., Christopher Jagger Bowling of Roark, KY. & Ashton Edward Bowling of Roark, KY., one step-daughter: Kendra Bowling of Big Creek, KY. & one step-son: Eddie Sizemore & Barbara of Roark, KY., three brothers: Lonnie Smith & Violet of Roark, KY., Raymond Smith & Nancy of Jackson Co., KY.& Kenneth Smith & Jan of Roark, KY., Two sisters: Edith Smith & Ed of Annville, KY. & Janet Slusher & Bruce of Roark, KY., two half-sisters: Mary Barnes & Jerry & Eilena Turner & Francis, a host of step-brothers & sisters, three grandchildren: Christopher Trent Caldwell, Shania Kelsey Asher & Brandon Scott Morgan, two step-grandchildren: Kenneth Tyler Sizemore & Zachary Buck Sizemore. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowens Creek Baptist Church at Essie, KY., with Dr. L. Scott Woodworth, Rev. Cleve Bowling & Rev. Chuck Jack officiating. Burial will follow in the Angel Point Cemetery at Roark, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Homer David Smith, Shaun Derek Smith, Trent Caldwell, Joey Asher, Travis Slusher,Bruce Slusher, Malcom Asher, Kenny Smith & Brandon Morgan. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 5:00 P.M. at the Church.
