The Obituary of Mr. Dexter Day Officiating Minister: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis Mr. Dexter Day was born on March 4, 1925 in Smilax, KY. and passed away on Saturday ~ November 5, 2011 at the Mary Breckinridge ARH in Hyden, KY. at the age of 86 years. Dexter was the Son of the late Monroe Day and the late Melinda Lewis Day and the Husband of Erma Fouts Day. By occupation Dexter was Retired from Blue Diamond Coal Company, having been a miner for 42 years. He was a lifelong resident of Leslie County and was residing in Hyden, KY. at the time of his passing. Dexter was a Member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, KY. and enjoyed gardening, flowers and wood working as hobbies. He was Preceded in Death by: Parents: Monroe & Melinda Lewis Day; Brothers: Arnold and Lloyd; Sisters: Sophia Coots and Bonnie Maggard. Mr. Dexter Day leaves the following relatives surviving: His Loving & Devoted Wife: Mrs. Erma Fouts Day of Hyden, KY.; Daughter: Eva Carol Huff & Delano of Hyden, KY.; Son: Harold Day & Rhonda of Cincinnati, OH.; Adopted Daughter: Geri Adams & Jerome of Wooton, KY.; Brothers: Ernest Day & Bessie of Crab Orchard, KY. and Paul Day & Marie of Smilax, KY.; Sisters: Myrtle Fouts of Smilax, KY., Lillian Joseph of Trenton, OH. and Lois Ann Hensley of Smilax, KY.; Grandchildren: Sarah Havener & David, Steven Vickers, Melinda Vickers, Tonya Farler & Freddie, Taylor Adams and Spencer Adams; Great-Grandchildren: Alex Farler and Katelyn Farler. Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Dexter Day on Tuesday ~ November 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ ~ Smilax, KY. with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery ~ Smilax, KY. Visitation will be on Monday ~ November 7, 2011 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Church.
