The obituary of Mr. Edgar Paul "Ed" Melton Officiating Minister: Rev. Ronnie Melton Mr. Edgar Paul Melton was born on June 15, 1928 and departed this life on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky. He was 82 years old. Ed was born at Wooton, Ky. the son of the late Roe Melton & Mary Nantz. Ed was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War having served honorably & obtaining the rank of Corporal. He was a self-employed coal truck driver & heavy equipment mover. Ed enjoyed camping, hunting --especially rabbit hunting, mowing grass, & most importantly being involved in the lives of his family. Ed was affiliated with the Wooton Presbyterian Church, Wooton, Ky. He was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing at 95 Meeting House Branch at the time of his death. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 55 years: Mabel Bowling Melton; Brothers: Jody, Hyden, Tom, Gordon, William Henry; Sisters: Nette Couch, Eva Cornett, Lillian Laymond, Sally Wooton, & Betty Begley. Mr. Edgar Paul "Ed" Melton leaves the following relatives surviving: three daughters: Rhonda Reid & Husband, Wayne, of London, KY., Mary Lou Warfield & Husband, Wallace, of Richmond, KY. and Betty Baker & Husband, Jerry, of Wooton, KY.; one brother: Clayton Eugene Melton & wife, Shirley, of Warren, Michigan; five grandchildren: Greg Warfield & Sally, Melissa Morgan & John H., Kristi Hammond & Andy, Rebecca Sams & Brent and Holly Begley & Marc. Mr. Ed Melton is also survived by 7 great grandchildren a special niece: Diane Cornett, & a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Edgar "Ed" Paul Melton will be conducted on Monday - January 3, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Melton officiating. The interment will follow after the funeral at the Melton Family Cemetery at Wooton, KY. Military Rites will be observed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Rob Brewer, Greg Warfield, Brent Sams, Marc Begley, John H. Morgan and Andrew "Andy" Hammond.
