Mr. Harry Ford Bowling was born on March 4, 1930 and departed this life on June 25, 2008 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital, Hyden, Ky.. He was 78 years, 3 months, and 21 days old.He was born in Hyden, Kentucky and had been a lifelong resident of Leslie County. He was the son of the late Reynolds Bowling and the late Nora Napier Bowling. By occupation Mr. Ford Bowling had been a retired a coal miner and had been a Sheriff of Leslie County for 13 years - 1986-1998. Ford was the first sheriff in Leslie County to be elected to consecutive terms. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting ginseng, playing Rummy, and playing music. He was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at Essie, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents: Reynolds Bowling and Nora Napier Bowling; sisters: Edna Reynolds, Alma Ducker, Edith Hawkins, Pauline Helton, Rose Bowling, and Joann Bowling; brothers: Willie, Earl, Ralph, George; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Keen & Dallie Hacker; special nephew: Josh Hacker. He leaves surviving the following relatives: wife of 58 years: Faye Hacker Bowling of Stinnett, KY;two sons: Paul Bowling & Trish of Stinnett, KY and Bill Bowling & Hallie of Hyden, KY; six daughters: Wanda Powers & Lloyd of Blaine, KY, Linda Bowling of Stinnett, KY, Joann Herring & Donnie of Stinnett, KY, Kathy Napier & Bill of Burnside, KY, Debbie Turner & Doug of Hyden, KY, and Dianna Mosley & Johnny of Hyden, KY;two brothers: Hershal Bowling of Keavy, KY and John Bowling of Burnside, KY;three sisters: Kathleen Jones of Hyden, KY, Norma Jean Sizemore of Bear Branch, KY, and Ann Howard of Bulls Gap, TN; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Ford Bowling will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday June 29, 2008 at the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church in Hyden, KY with Rev. Teddy Couch, James Bowling, Jr., Keith Bowling, and Rachel Davison officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m.- Friday, June 27, 2008 and continue Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church. Burial will take place at the Bowling-Napier Cemetery in Hyden, Kentucky under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home staff.
