The Obituary for Silas Hensley Officiating Ministers: Rev. J.D. Hensley, Rev. Chad Hensley & Rev. Wayne Bowling Silas Hensley was born on March 15, 1929 at Bearbranch, Ky., the son of the late Tommy & Martha Asher Hensley. He passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Ky., at the age of 81 years, 8 months & 12 days. Silas was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army (Korean War), by occupation he was a retired truck driver. Silas was a member of the Couch's Fork Church of God at Bearbranch, KY. He enjoyed fishing & hunting. Silas Hensley was preceded in death by his parents: Tommy & Martha Hensley; one son: Jimmy Dan Hensley; two daughters: Gail Hensley Johnson & JoAnn Hensley; one grandson: Tommy Wilkins; one brother: Paul Hensley; & two sisters: Nell Baker & Dorothy Philpot. He leaves the following relatives surviving: Wife: Hallie Sizemore Hensley of Bearbranch, KY.; one daughter: Vickie Hensley Wilkins of Bearbranch, KY.; one brother: Charles Hensley & Maude of Big Creek, Ky.; three grandchildren: Timmy Wilkins, Bobby Joe Wilkins & Scottie Wayne Johnson; & five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Wilkins, Navarah Wilkins, Jimmy Dan Johnson, Gail Johnson and Addie Mae Johnson. Funeral service for Silas Hensley will be conducted on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Couch's Fork Church of God at Bearbranch, KY., with Rev. J.D. Hensley, Rev. Chad Hensley & Rev. Wayne Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Couch's Fork Cemetery at Bearbranch, KY. Military rites will be performed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter #133. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Tony Couch, Timmy Wilkins, Scotty Wayne Johnson & Josh Trent. Visitation will be on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at the Church.
