The obituary of Mr. Raleigh Turner Officiating Minister: Rev. Steven Wainright Mr. Raleigh Turner born November 14, 1918 departed this life on November 16, 2010 at the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, Ky. He was 92 years & 2 days old. Raleigh was born at Cinda, Ky., the son of the late Isaac Turner & Minnie Young. Raleigh was a World War II veteran serving honorably in the United States Army. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, obtaining a masters'degree. Raleigh was a retired teacher and farmer. Raleigh had been a resident of Russell Springs, Ky., for the past 25 years. He was a former resident of St. Petersburg, Fla. Raleigh spent his formative years in Leslie Co. Mr. Raleigh Turner was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife: Corinne M. Sandvik Turner, one grandson: Eric Newbury, the following brothers: Ray, Omer, Kermit, Marcus, Homer, Roy, Lawrence, & John S. Turner, two sisters: Oma Jones & infant, Maddeline Turner. Mr. Raleigh Turner leaves the following relatives surviving: two sons: Robert Ray Turner & wife, Bonnie of Elizabethtown, Ky., John David Turner & wife, Darlene Thomas, of Frankfort, Ky., two daughters: Janice Yvonne Turner of Honolulu, Hawaii, Barbara Jean Turner Johnson & husband, Paul of Lexington, Ky., two sisters: Doris Caldwell & husband, David of London, Ky., Nancy Bailey and husband, Bill, of Cincinnati, Ohio, four treasured grandchildren: Sara Newbury, John Turner, Michah Turner, Steve Turner & a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mr. Raleigh Turner will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.- Saturday- November 20, 2010 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.Steve Wainright officiating. The interment will follow in the Turner Family Cemetery- Hyden, Ky., with full military rites observed by the Leslie Co. D.A.V. Chapter 133. Friends my call for visitation after 11:00 a.m. - Saturday, November 20, 2010 until the funeral hour @ 2:00 p.m. The following will serve as active pallbearers: John Turner, Steve Turner, Michah Turner, William Isaac Turner, Roy Turner, Jr., Bill Turner, & David Turner, the following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Eric Newbury -(deceased grandson) & Sara Newbury.
