The Obituary of Mrs. Mary Rose Cornett Officiating Minister: Rev. Wayne Bowling Mary Rose Cornett born September 1, 1922 departed this life on March 21, 2009 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 86 years, 6 months, and 21 days old. Mary Rose was born at Dryhill, Ky., the daughter of the late Arbirt Asher and Nancy Margaret " Maggie" Morgan. Mary Rose was a former self-employed day care worker & Avon representative. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church & was very active in the community, having organized several St. Jude Hospital "Bike-A- Thons. Mary Rose enjoyed sewing as a hobby & was very active in the lives of her grandchildren. Mary Rose lived most of her adult life in Leslie Co., with the exception of living in Ohio for a short period of time. Mrs. Mary Rose Cornett was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Walter "Nick" Cornett, one grandson: Arbirt Daniel Whitaker, one brother: Reney Asher & three sisters: Martha Maggard, Jessie Farmer, & Eva Best. Mrs. Mary Rose Cornett leaves the following relatives surviving: one daughter: Angela Asher Whitaker of Hyden, Ky., two grandsons: Walter Garland Sizemore and wife, Teresa, & Mack Douglas Whitaker and wife, Cindy, four great-grandchildren: Floyd Whitaker and wife, Melissa, Kyle Douglas Sizemore, Chelsea Ariana Sizemore, Mackenzie Whitaker, and one great, great, granddaughter: Addison Whitaker. The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Rose Cornett will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. - Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Bowling officiating. The interment will follow in the Arbirt Daniel Whitaker Cemetery, Hyden, Ky., under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home staff and the following pallbearers: Kyle Sizemore, Floyd Whitaker, Ott Sizemore, Alan Osborne, Tim Osborne and Cody Osborne.
