Pearl H. Baker

The obituary of Mr. Pearl Baker of 795 Levi Branch Road, Smilax, KY., born July 26, 1935 departed this life on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his residence. He was 78 years old. Pearl was a retired logger and coal miner, having been employed by the Blue Diamond Mine, Leatherwood, Ky. He was a life-long resident of Leslie County & was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ in Smilax, KY. Pearl enjoyed fishing, wood working, boating, being active in the Boy Scouts & most importantly being involved in the lives of his family. Pearl was preceded in death by his parents: Wilson & Recea Pennington Baker.; 4 brothers: W.T. Baker, Coy Baker, Harvey Baker & Dennis Baker; father & mother-in-law: Lillie & Vycie Roberts Engle and brother-in-law & best friend: Harold Engle. He leaves surviving the following relatives: His loving and devoted wife: Bessie Engle Baker; 2 sons: Rick Baker & wife Connie of Smilax, KY. and Josh Baker & wife Devina of Smilax, KY. 1 daughter: Vickie Stacy & husband Bryan of Hazard, KY.; 2 brothers: Paul Baker & wife Jewell of Lancaster, KY. and James Baker & wife Margaret of Lancaster, KY. 2 special sister-in-laws: Lena Engle & Alphia Lewis; 4 sisters: Mary Joseph & husband Elvin of Wooton, KY., Marie Day & husband, Paul of Smilax, KY., Loretta Steele & husband, Mike of Lexington, KY. & Margaret Day & husband Clinton of Lancaster, KY.; 4 grandchildren: Josh Baker & wife Devina, Christy Shepherd & husband Jonathan, Ricky Baker & wife Brittany & Jessica Baker; 6 great-grandchildren: Zander Baker, Caleb Shepherd, Cooper Baker, Rider Baker, Zaiden Baker & Ben Baker.
