The Obituary of Mr. Stanley Wilson Officiating Minister: Steve Wilson Stanley Wilson, 83, husband of Oma M. Wilson, died peacefully Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his home in North Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Wilson was born February 19, 1928, in the Big Branch, of Leslie County, KY. He enlisted and served in World War II (WW II). At age 15 he joined the US Army, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, 15th Infantry Regmnt. 1st Battalion Co. A. Serving in the Casino Campaign and Anzio landing in Italy. Just prior to his 16th birthday, he was wounded multiple times, and survived the Beachhead Invasion of Anzio, Italy in 1944, and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and American Defense Medal, European, African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Medals. At the close of World War II, he returned to Kentucky and met, and married, his wife of 57 years, Oma Wilson. They lived in Dayton, Ohio for a period of years, but returned to their roots of Leslie County, KY in 1963 where they created and built a general store that faithfully served the community of Helton, Beech Fork , KY for decades. In 2010 he was awarded the Third Infantry Division, Society Service Award for WW II Uniformed, and as a minister of the gospel. He was preceded in death by: His Parents: Lawrence and Nora North Wilson; Son: Wilburn Wilson; Sister: Sylvia Wilson Mobley and Brothers: Frank and Elzie Wilson. A former active and longstanding ordained minister of Beech Fork United Methodist Church, Helton, KY, and Cutshin Bible Church, Yeaddiss, KY. He served as a lay minister for greater than forty years. Survivors include: His Wife: Oma Wilson, N. Charleston, SC., formerly of Yeaddiss, KY; Daughter: Peggy Wilson Williams, and Son-In-Law, Robert (Bob) S. Williams, North Charleston, SC.; Daughter: Carla Wilson Bailey, N. Charleston, SC.; Daughter-In-Law: Diane Wilson, Morristown, Tennessee, Brothers: Oscar Wilson, Eaton, Ohio, Earl, Phil and Orville Wilson, Dayton, Ohio, and Sister: Elsie Wilson Mosley of Roseland, Oregon. Grandson and Wife: David and Stephanie Wilson , Morristown, TN; Granddaughters: Anne Marie Wilson, Knoxville, TN; Christy Bailey, Portland, Oregon; Rachel Bailey, Columbia, SC; Great-Grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathan, and Elizabeth Wilson, Morristown, TN. and many other beloved extended family members and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Wilson will be conducted on Thursday - April 28, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 5:00 P.M. until time of funeral at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Full military rites will be observed by the Leslie Co. D.A.V. Chapter # 133. The interment service will be conducted 11:00 A.M.- Friday - April 29, 2011 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6890 Danville Road, Nicholasville, KY.
