Courtesy Obituary of Richard Ray Caldwell Richard Ray Caldwell, 82, of Bledsoe, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at UT Medical Center, Knoxville , TN. He was born in Beverly, KY. on April 28, 1931 a son of the late Sam and Betty Saylor Caldwell. He was member of the Stoney Fork Pentecostal Church and was retired coal miner, grocery store business owner and Assistant Postmaster. Mr. Caldwell serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Honorary Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, Robert Caldwell, brother Zack Caldwell; sisters, Mary Helton and Ida Caldwell; grandson, Charles Richard Caldwell, great-grandson, D.J. Widener and sons-in-law, Rush Morgan and Junior Widener. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Howard Caldwell; children, Carol Morgan, Nelson and Tammy Caldwell, Glenda Caldwell, Sandy and Clay Tolliver, Ricky and Jennifer Caldwell, Herman and Jenny Caldwell, Delilah and Vic Caldwell and Mary Jane Widener; grandchildren, Jason Morgan, Nanita Barnett, Jerry Caldwell, Timothy Caldwell, Jeff Tolliver, Autumn Higgins, Cullen Petrey, Jody Caldwell, Melissa Caldwell, Nicole England, Gareth Caldwell, Clifton Caldwell, Cheston Caldwell, Kelly York, and Amanda York, eighteen great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Cordelia Short, Lena Short, David Caldwell, Bernice Caldwell, John D. Caldwell, Eva Dean Maggard, Betty Jean Mastes and Gareth Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Baker, Rev. Paul Bailey and Rev. Clifton Caldwell. Burial will be in the Honey Branch Cemetery at Middlefork. Pallbearers will his grandsons. Military honors will be provided by the Harlan Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Caldwell family.
