The Obituary of Mr. Rufus Asher Officiating Ministers: Rev. Clemmie Joseph, Rev. Mike Joseph and Rev. Tommy Fields Rufus Asher born June 17, 1931 depated this life on March 27, 2011 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, KY. He was 79 years old. Rufus was born at Cinda, Ky the son of the late Dallie Coots Asher and the late Elige Asher. Rufus was a retired coal miner having been employed by Ky. Mountain Coal Co. He was a life-long resident of Leslie County, KY., residing at 6857 Wolf Creek Road at the time of his death. Mr. Rufus Asher was a member of the Big Fork Church of God at Yeaddiss, KY. Rufus enjoyed hunting, as well as knife and gun trading. He loved spending time with his children and all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his loving wife: Wathon Sizemore Asher, three sons: Earnest, Arthur and Willis, four brothers: Logan, Johnny, Levi and Haze, four sisters: Nancy, Susan, Mary and Hazel. He leaves the following relatives surviving: five Sons: Jim Asher & Phyllis of Slemp, KY., Freddie Asher & Margie of Somerset, KY., Bob Asher & Connie of Hyden, KY., Eugene Asher & Hope of Yeaddiss, KY. and Coy Asher & Serena of Stinnett, KY.; three Daughters: Mary Joseph & Bill of Wooton, KY., Anita Cornett & Lloyd of Leatherwood, KY. and Rose Wells & Paul of Yeaddiss, KY, one sister: Rose Ervin of Yeaddiss, KY. Mr. Rufus Asher is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Rufus Asher will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday - March 31, 2011 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Clemmie Joseph, Rev. Mike Joseph ans Rev. Tommy Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Rufus and Wathon Asher Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY.
