The obituary of Mr. Bruce Baker Officiating Minister: Keith Bowling Mr. Bruce Baker born May 28, 1932 departed this life on Wednesday February 15, 2012 at the age of 79 years, 8 months & 19 days. He was born at Hyden, Kentucky the son of the late Dan Baker and the late Nora Maggard Baker. Bruce was a retired heavy equipment operator having worked as a former coal miner and strip miner. Bruce had also been employed by the Leslie County Fiscal Court as the Leslie County Road Foreman. He was responsible for the construction of many roads in Leslie County. Bruce took great pride in his job and was known for his skill operating a road grader. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Stinnett Church of Christ and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. Bruce enjoyed gardening, fishing, squirrel hunting as hobbies. He especially enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family. Mr. Bruce Baker was preceded in death by his parents: Dan and Nora Baker,his loving and devoted wife: Zilpha Morgan Baker, 2 sisters: Jean Maggard and Bernice Baker Callahan, 2 brothers: Earnest & Evert Baker. He leaves surviving the following relatives: 4 daughters: Sandra Kay Begley of London, KY, Melissa Faye Hensley & Clellan of Hyden, KY, Hilda Carol Asher & Curtis of Hyden, KY, Peggy Jean Barger & Don of Stinnett, KY, 1 brother: Vernon Baker & Reba of Wooton, KY, 2 sisters: Irene Gross & Chrisley of Smilax, KY, Shirley Wooton & Curtis of Wooton, KY, 9 grandchildren; Cynthia Couch & Brian, Amy Hamilton & Tony, Wendy Begley, Robin K. Hensley, Kevin Asher & Holly , Wesley Asher, Austin Asher, Eric Barger & Amber, Kendra Barger, 4 great grandchildren: Christopher, Brianna, Tanner & Tucker. Mr. Bruce Baker is also survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Bruce Baker will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Stinnett Church of Christ with Keith Bowling officiating. The interment will follow in the Baker Family Cemetery located at Wooton, Kentucky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Asher, Austin Asher, Eric Barger, Tony Hamilton, Brian Couch, Ronnie Gross, Larry Callahan and Darrell Callahan.
