The Obituary of Mrs. Martha Jones Griffie Officiating Ministers: Rev. Teddy Couch, Rev. Bob Rice and Thom Denman Mrs. Martha Jones Griffie was born on November 1, 1925 and departed this life on July 7, 2010 at the Whitesburg ARH in Whitesburg, Kentucky. She was 84 years of age at the time of her passing. She was the daughter of the late Walter Jones and the late Mollie Davidson. She was born in Leslie County, Kentucky and has been a resident here for 16 years having moved from Atlanta, GA. By occupation she was a homemaker and a retired sales clerk. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was residing at 634 Vintage Dr. Hyden, Ky. at the time of her death. Mrs. Martha Jones Griffie was preceded in death by her parents; son: Johnny; daughter: Christine; grandsons: Jeffrey and James; brothers: Elmer, Noah and Aaron; sisters: Anna Lee, Jessie and Rosie. She leaves the following relatives surviving: son: Len Griffie of Big Creek, KY.; daughters: Carol Cobb & Larry of McDonough, GA., Pat Cheek & Steve of McDonough, GA., Gail Jackson & Clyde of Manchester, KY., Mary Hill of Dallas, GA., Donna Gilbert & Glenn of Hyden, KY. and Annette Jones & Kenneth of Bear Branch, KY.; sisters: Mary and Ruby; 31 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jones Griffie will be conducted on Saturday - July 10, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Teddy Couch, Rev. Bob Rice and Thom Denman officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Jones Family Cemetery at Dryhill, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Larry Cobb, Steven Cheek, Clyde Jackson, Michael Moore, Glenn Gilbert and Kenneth Jones.
