The Obituary of Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. Officiating Ministers: Rev. Andrew Farmer, Rev. Geoffery Roberts & Rev. Robert Amundsen Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. was born on November 12, 1924 and departed this life on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. He was 86 years of age. Jr. was born at Thousandsticks, Kentucky the son of the late Bige Couch and the late Clara Sizemore Couch. By occupation he was a retired coal miner and had worked for the KY Dept. of Humans Resources for 22 years. Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. was the first member of the Human Resources to issue Food Stamps in Eastern KY. Junior was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served honorably in World War II and was been a Life-Member member of the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133. He served as the President of the KY Farm Bureau Board for many years and was a charter member of the Leslie County Fish and Game Club. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Bige and Clara Couch; Son: Elbert Wayne Couch; Brothers: Mason Couch and Lawrence Couch; Sisters: Elzie Couch, Mollie Napier, Edna Sizemore, Opha Whitaker and Maultie Couch. Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. leaves surviving the following relatives: His Loving and Devoted Wife: Bessie Jones Couch of Hyden, KY.; Daughters: Wilma Jean Roberts & William Hoy of Hyden, KY., Janet Fugate & Dana of Hazard, KY., Deborah Barger & Hubert Dale of Hyden, KY.; Sister: Mae Couch of Bear Branch, KY.; Grandchildren: Greg Couch & Tracey, Tim Couch & Heather, Kim Roberts, Tonya Horton & Todd, Danica Browning & Jeff, Deana Fugate, Chris Barger & Ellen and Brittany Maggard & John. Great Grandchildren: Tanner Horton, Kaley Horton, Greg Couch II, Sydney Couch, Mason Couch, Brady Couch, Chase Couch and Dawson Browning. Special friends: Ford and Brown. Funeral services for Mr. Bige Couch, Jr. will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday - June 28, 2011 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Farmer, Rev. Geoffery Roberts and Rev. Robert Amundsen officiating. The interment will follow in the Couch's Fork Cemetery at Thousandsticks (Hal Rogers Parkway), KY. Full Military Rites will be observed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133. The following will serve as Pallbearers: William Hoy Roberts, Dana Fugate, Dale Barger, Greg Couch, Tim Couch, Chris Barger, Jeff Browning, Todd Horton, John Maggard, Tanner Horton and Greg Couch II.
