Bert Baker Columbus Coots was born on February 17, 1942 at Cutshin, Kentucky, the son of the late Tinsley & Taffie Shell Coots, he passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his residence in London, Kentucky at the age of 68 years, 7 months & 4 days. Columbus had been a resident of London, Kentucky since 1993 prior to living in Leslie Co. By occupation Columbus was a retired coal miner, he was affliated with the Smith Camp Pentecostal Church at Wooton, Kentucky. Columbus was a member of the DAV, he was a former mason, he enjoyed gardening & fishing. Columbus was preceded in death by his parents:Tinsley & Taffie Shell Coots, one son: Joe Daniel Coots, two infant brothers, one brother: Carlos Coots & one sister: Mavie Farler. He leaves the following relatives surviving: wife: Molly Sue Whitaker Coots of London, KY., one son: Jimmy Dean Coots of London, KY., three daughters: Donna Gail Oliver & Lawrence of Corbin, Ky., Brenda Sue Morgan & David of London, KY. & Joan Louise Christopher & Pete of Wooton, Ky., one brother: Donald Coots of Warbranch, KY., four sisters: Hattie Asher of Wooton, KY., Athaleen Smith of Middlesboro, KY., Dorothy Knight of Hazard, KY. & Edith Baker of Cutshin, KY.six grandchildren: Brandon David Morgan, Wendy Nicole Joseph, Quentin Jay Morgan, Jimmy Joe Daniel Morgan, Amanda Sue Ellen Coots & Abigail Morgan Gibson & expecting a Great-Grandchild. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive. Funeral service for Columbus Coots will be conducted on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Smith Camp Pentecostal Church at Wooton, KY., with Rev. Alfred Smith & Rev. Bert Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery at Hyden, KY. with full military rites performed by the Leslie Co.
