The Obituary for Mr. Hershel C. Spencer Officiating Minister: Sue Stacy Hershel C.Spencer was born on September 9, 1935, in Hazard, Ky., the son of the late Abner & Flossie Combs Spencer. He passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital in Hyden, Ky., at the age of 77 years,1 month & 15 days. Hershel was a life-long resident of Hazard, Ky., residing at 1531 Clearfork Rd., Chavies, Ky. at the time of his passing. Hershel was a veteran of the U.S. Army & Navy was in Korea right after the Korean War. By occupation he was a retired coal miner(strip mines). He was a member of the Church of God. He enjoyed carpentry. Hershel C. Spencer was preceded in death by: his parents: Abner & Flossie Combs Spencer, one daughter: Gerema Watts, infant twin brothers, & 4 other brothers: Hargis, Homer, Bob & Abner Jr. Spencer. He leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving & devoted wife: Lois Campbell Spencer of Hazard, KY., 4 sons: William Spencer & Mildred of Wooton, KY., Chris Deaton & Patty of Wisconsin, Larry Deaton & Debbie of Gays Creek, Ky. & Martin Deaton & Ann of Clearfork, Ky., 4 daughters: Ella Burns & Roland of Hazard, KY., Loretta Miller of North Carolina, Anita Banks & David of Vicco, KY. & Brenda Mullins of Knott Co., KY., a special grand-daughter: Danielle, also 24 other grandchildren & a host of great & great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY., with Sue Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Hershel & Lois Spencer Family Cemetery in Hazard, Ky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Josh Collett, Jonathan Deaton, David Deaton, Mark Fannan, William Spencer & Larry Edward Deaton.
